Manchester United have found a breakthrough courtesy of Joshua Zirkzee at the Reale Arena.

The Red Devils re-entered the field after the interval looking considerably more spirited than they did in the first half, which was nothing short of a snooze-fest in Seville.

While Ruben Amorim would likely accept a draw in the first leg of the last-16 tie, an advantage to take back to Old Trafford next week would be hugely beneficial. Assuming they can extend their lead this evening or keep the scoreline as it is, they’ll have exactly that.

Meanwhile, it comes as a much-needed confidence boost for the struggling Zirkzee, who, prior to tonight, hadn’t found the back of the net since the start of February.

Despite not etching his name onto the scoresheet, one Red has been singled out by Sky Sports’ Zinny Boswell for the impact he has on United’s attack.

“Man United are a more dangerous team with [Patrick] Dorgu in the line-up,” said the pundit on Sky’s live commentary.

Dorgu hailed for attacking threat vs Real Sociedad

Indeed, the winter signing has certainly redeemed himself following last week’s calamitous mishap with Andre Onana and subsequent red card, which saw him earn himself a three-match ban in domestic competitions.

Amorim will be without Dorgu for the visit of title-chasing Arsenal this Sunday, as well as the trip to take on relegation-threatened Leicester City on March 16 – the last game before the first international break of 2025.

“He [Dorgu] is going to be ready to play. He will play in the Europa League, for sure, as we have to make rotation. It’s the life of a player, you make a mistake but you have to go again and play the next game,” said the boss after Dorgu’s dismissal.
