Arsenal have renewed their longstanding interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, and will likely return for his signature next summer, The Athletic reports.

The Gunners came close to snapping up the 21-year-old sensation last summer, but Leipzig convinced him to sign a new long-term deal, keeping him at the Red Bull Arena until the summer of 2029.

With four years left on his contract, Leipzig are in a strong negotiating position and will likely demand a mouth-watering fee for their highly-rated prospect.

However, that’s unlikely to deter Arsenal, who are keen to bolster their goalscoring options next summer.

Sesko has been on an upward trajectory since joining Leipzig in the summer of 2023. He netted 14 goals in 31 league games in his debut season, sparking interest from a host of European clubs.

He has continued on the same path this season, notching seven goals and three assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.

If he continues his current form or goes up a notch, Arsenal will likely be at the forefront of the race for the ‘incredible‘ striker next summer.

Gabriel Jesus has struggled to recapture his best form, leaving Kai Havertz as Mikel Arteta’s most prolific option in centre-forward.

If Arsenal are to reinforce their attacking options next summer, they’ll need to raise funds through sales, and Jesus is one of several players who could be shown the door.

The 27-year-old has regressed since his early days at the Emirates Stadium and has been relegated to a back-up role, starting in just six of his 16 appearances this season.

His worrying injury record could also contribute to Arsenal’s decision to cut him loose and sign an upgrade.

Jesus’ former Manchester City teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko is also on the chopping block after falling out of favour under Arteta.

Summer signing Riccardo Calafiori has emerged as Arteta’s first-choice left-back, and with the emergence of academy ace Myles Lewis-Skelly, Zinchenko could be deemed dispensable.
