Arsenal could set their sights on signing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko amid reservations over Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners were interested in landing the Slovenia international from Leipzig last summer, but he signed a new contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

The 21-year-old was reportedly reluctant to play second fiddle to Kai Havertz. He had concerns that he would be second choice, given the German’s end-of-season form.

Arsenal have since been linked with Isak and Gyokeres as potential alternatives, but the Daily Mail claims they may not look to sign either player.

The club are likely to wait until the end of the campaign to spend on a marquee striker.

Gyokeres has been a revelation for Sporting CP with 70 goals and 20 assists in 75 games, but Arsenal have reservations due to his age. He will turn 27 in June.

Isak has been mentioned as the club’s top target for some time, but the Gunners are concerned over his short-term injury woes.

Arsenal are reportedly wary about signing him as their high-pressing game could contribute to the Swede picking up more injuries with them in future.

With this in mind, it seems crystal clear that the Gunners are poised to return for Sesko next summer.

Sesko would be a perfect fit with his age and immense potential

The Red Bull Salzburg graduate had a good debut season with Leipzig with 18 goals and two assists.

He has continued to impress in the early part of this campaign with ten goals and three assists.

His goal tally is similar to Havertz’s at Arsenal, but the Slovenian has a much higher ceiling. He is four years younger.

Sesko possesses the aerial presence of Havertz up front, but he is better with his tireless high pressing.

The Slovenian has converted 20 percent of his shots into goals, higher than the German’s average (14).

He has the ability to generate immense power in his shots and can score with his right or left foot.

Sesko, who has been described as ‘exciting‘ by Bundesliga.com, would be a superb acquisition for Arsenal.

He is valued at £41.5 million by Transfermarkt, but Arsenal will definitely have to pay a much higher sum.

Leipzig cancelled the £54m release clause in his contract with the renewal, and they will be in a strong position to negotiate next summer.
