Aston Villa and Tottenham in talks to sign Jonathan David | OneFootball

Jonathan David (25) announced earlier this week that he would be leaving Lille OSC upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season. What has long been assumed has now, therefore, been officialised.

The Canadian has been free to engage in pre-contract talks with other clubs since January and there has been no shortage of interest. There has been significant interest from the Premier League and from Serie A. L’Équipe understands that clubs from both these leagues remain in talks with David.

As per the publication, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Napoli, and Juventus all remain in talks to sign the LOSC forward on a free transfer. It had been reported by Fabrizio Romano earlier in the week that Napoli were in advanced talks to sign the Canada international, however, the race to secure his signature seemingly remains open as the end of the season nears.

David will play his final game for Lille when face Stade de Reims on Saturday night. A win may be enough to secure a fourth-place finish and allow the club to return to the UEFA Champions League via the play-offs.
