La Liga giants Atlético Madrid could yet be forced to make do without a key member of their midfield ranks in the club’s upcoming showdown with Barcelona.

The headline fixture of the weekend in Spain is of course set to play out in the capital, on Sunday evening.

As much will see the aforementioned Atlético act as hosts, in a crunch showdown with Barcelona amid the ongoing battle for the La Liga title.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts to best Hansi Flick’s in-form Blaugrana, Diego Simeone’s hosts may be forced to make do without the contributions of an engine room star.

Rodrigo De Paul limped out of Atléti’s Madrid Derby meeting with Real on Wednesday, owing to what appeared to be a muscular issue.

And on Friday, the Argentine is yet to return to group activities.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, De Paul was put through an individualised session inside the gym earlier today.

The World Cup Winner, in turn, remains ‘a doubt’ to play his part on Sunday night.
