FC Barcelona have a well-stocked midfield department with Pedri and Frenkie de Jong being the first-choice starters while Marc Casado, Gavi, and Marc Bernal (once he returns from injury).

Despite that, reports have suggested that Barça could enter the market for another natural defensive midfielder in the summer.

Thomas Partey, whose contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season, has been touted as a potential target for the La Liga giants.

Barcelona have their eyes on Angelo Stiller

However, now according to Christian Falk, Barcelona also have their eyes on VfB Stuttgart defensive midfielder Angelo Stiller.

Along with the Blaugrana, Premier League bigwigs Arsenal are also very much interested in the 24-year-old midfielder who has a contract with the German outfit until 2028.

Formerly of Bayern Munich, Stiller left the Bavarians in 2021 for free to join TSG Hoffenheim before making the move to Stuttgart two years later, where he has established himself as one of the most reliable players in his position in the Bundesliga.

Capped four times by the German national team, Stiller is known for his ball-winning ability in midfield while he is also an exceptional passer, making him an attractive prospect for Barcelona.

The report states that Stiller has a release clause in his contract with Stuttgart which stands at €36.5 million, although that becomes active in the summer of 2026.

As such, signing the German international this summer could prove to be expensive which could put him beyond Barcelona’s grasp given their concerning Financial Fair Play situation.

Arsenal, who may lose Partey in the summer, could end up being Stiller’s next destination.
