Barcelona had a relatively quiet January transfer window, where the club had to sanction the sale of a few youth stars from La Masia.

However, the Blaugrana are gearing up for a busy summer ahead, with one of their top priorities being the acquisition of a new striker.

Barcelona are indeed desperate to sign a new forward who can emerge as a long-term replacement for the ageing Robert Lewandowski.

To that end, Barça have been linked with a number of names in the recent past, including the likes of Jonathan David and Rafael Leao. But one name that tops the list is Alexander Isak.

Isak: Barcelona’s top target for 2025

According to El Chiringuito, Isak has emerged as Barcelona’s top target for the summer of 2025.

This is hardly surprising as the Catalans have indicated that they are willing to go big for a new striker next summer. Isak, to that end, fits the bill perfectly due to his solid track record.

Since joining Newcastle United in 2022, Isak has racked up an impressive 54 goals in less than 100 competitive matches.

Isak also has a stellar track record of scoring in La Liga, having scored 44 goals during his spell at Real Sociedad.

Isak’s experience at the highest level of football, coupled with his goalscoring prowess and age profile would make him an ideal long-term replacement for Lewandowski at Barcelona.

That said, acquiring the services of the Swedish international could be far from straightforward, as Newcastle United would want to hold out for a fortune, for the services of their star player.

At the end of the day, it may depend heavily on how Barcelona manage to reduce their wage bill and bring in fresh revenue. The club have been keeping an eye on Isak for quite some time now, but whether that would translate into a move remains to be seen.
