It would not be something outrageous to suggest that Barcelona had a terrible end to 2024. The last year, despite a strong start to the season from Hansi Flick’s side, saw La Blaugrana crumble in the final two months or so. Ultimately, those poor results led to Barcelona losing a lot of ground in La Liga.

However, every new year brings new opportunities and possibilities along with it. Fortunately for Barcelona, 2025 has looked like a much better year for the Catalan giants so far despite it only having just begun. Still, if the first two games of the year are anything to go by, Barça could be quite the team to keep an eye on.

Moreover, this form seems to have impacted the confidence and feelings of the players in the Barcelona locker room as well. As highlighted by SPORT, Hansi Flick’s players seem more than eager to have a reunion with arch-rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final after having recently defeated Athletic Club in the semi-final.

Thanks to their form, and possibly the news of both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor being available for the team again, the locker room looks confident about their own abilities. As a result, the Barcelona players would be more than excited to face Los Blancos if they manage to defeat RCD Mallorca in their own semi-final.

Last time Barça and Real Madrid took on one another, it was a slaughter at the Santiago Bernabeu. Flick’s men came out on top with a 4-0 dismantle of the home side, and that result is surely one that stings for Madrid and one that will urge them to want to take revenge as well.

For now, Barcelona eagerly awaits whoever their final opponent ends up being over in Saudi Arabia. Either one of RCD Mallorca or Real Madrid could be the chosen team, but they will first lock horns to decide which team gets to share that final with the Catalan giants.
