The brass at La Liga giants knocked back a deadline day bid for a member of the club’s midfield ranks.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Pablo Torre as the player in question.
The name of youngster Torre of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day on Monday.
This came after word was forthcoming that the 21-year-old had made his way firmly into the sights of Portuguese heavyweights Porto.
After agreeing a deal to send Nico González to Manchester City, the transfer team at The Estádio do Dragão earmarked Torre as the ideal replacement.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media 24 hours on is anything to go by, then Porto went as far as to table a proposal for the Spanish starlet.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Porto, in need of a reinforcement in the midfield after the departure of Nico to Manchester, set their sights on Pablo Torre and came to present an offer of 8 million euros for his signing to Barça.’
This bid, however, was swiftly knocked back.
As much came after both Torre and Hansi Flick made clear that they were keen to continue together at least through the close of the campaign.
