Marco Baroni revealed the conditions of key Lazio stars Mattia Zaccagni and Nuno Tavares ahead of the decisive clash against Bodo/Glimt.

Now or Never for Lazio

The Biancocelesti returned from their miserable trip to Norway with a 0-2 defeat in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final, but they will be eager to overturn a two-goal deficit in Europe for the first time in the club’s history when they host their foes at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday.

Marco Baroni Urges Lazio to Give Their All

In his pre-match press conference (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Baroni insisted this will be the club’s most important fixture of the season so far.

The first leg was played in unusual conditions, but it taught us that we are facing a good team. We will need a different performance, with great physical and mental attitude. It is the most important match of the season. Now we are playing at home, in front of our fans. We have to go on the pitch and play as if there were no tomorrow. We will have to give everything and spend all our energy without holding back, leaving no room for regret.

Taty Castellanos & Boulaye Dia

The manager once again confirmed Taty Castellanos as a starter, admitting he could reunite him with his attacking partner Boulaye Dia.

Castellanos and Dia together is a solution. I’ve never hidden the importance of Taty. He’s recovering his best condition. He’ll definitely start tomorrow, but I have to understand how to manage the game. Bodo have great mobility, especially in the final third. We have to be good at keeping them at bay.

Mattia Zaccagni

Baroni also provided updates on Zaccagni who left the pitch in the second half of Sunday’s Derby della Capitale due to a cramp.

Zaccagni returned to training and he told me that he feels like playing the first 80 minutes.

Nuno Tavares

As for Tavares, he had suffered his sixth muscle injury of the season 10 days ago against Atalanta, but Baroni reveals he has now recovered and could be back in the squad.

Nuno is fine now. He’ll work with the team and then we’ll make an assessment together ahead of the match.
