Kane watched on from the sidelines as Bayern Munich’s title celebrations were put on ice

Harry Kane’s trophy drought is not over just yet.

However, two goals in the space of a minute just after the hour mark hauled the visitors level.

And when Leroy Sane struck seven minutes from time, it appeared the Bundesliga title race was done. But a 94th minute equaliser from Yussuf Poulsen spoiled the party which means Kane’s wait for a trophy goes on.

Interestingly had Bayern clinched the title against Leipzig, he would have watched on from the sidelines.

This is because Kane missed the clash through suspension after being shown his fifth yellow card of the season last weekend against Mainz, which saw him reach the threshold for a one-match ban.

The decision left the former Tottenham striker raging, as he said: "First of all, I think it's an insane decision. It's never a yellow card.

"Unfortunately, sometimes people come to the Allianz Arena and try to make a name for themselves.

"That's why I'm really disappointed that I got the yellow card, because of course I knew I already had four.

"And secondly, I think the rule is crazy anyway. Five yellow cards in 34 games means a suspension. That's crazy."

"Crazy, crazy decision. It’s kind of my story that I’ll miss the Leipzig game. But no worries, I’ll celebrate more than anyone else."

With that said, it would take an extraordinary set of results to deny Bayern the title and Kane his first winner’s medal as they have a far superior goal difference to Bayer Leverkusen despite their game in hand.

In fact, if Leverkusen fail to beat Freiburg on Sunday then those celebrations can begin, otherwise Bayern can officially be crowned champions next weekend in front of their own supporters when they face Borussia Monchengladbach.
