Sky Germany reports that despite several reports indicating that Florian Wirtz will extend his contract at Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich have not given up hope.
The Rekordmeister have adopted a mantra that as long as Wirtz has not signed a contract extension at the BayArena, they will continue to push for his signature.
However, it has previously been said that even if Wirtz does not sign a contract extension, a transfer will be hard to materials. The 21 year old will cost at least €150m as Leverkusen will not want to sell their best player to a direct rival on top of the salary that Wirtz will demand.
Add to this, that amount of money could be used a lot more wisely to boost other areas of Bayern’s squad that need serious investment.
It has repeatedly been reported that Leverkusen and Wirtz are still in talks regarding a contract extension until 2028 but these talks are very positive and clarity on the situation will likely be given in January.
