The Sporting Director of Bologna says that there have been “many offers” for Giovanni Fabbian, but that he doesn’t want to leave.

Rossoblu executive Marco Di Vaio spoke in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews. He updated on why the former Inter Milan midfielder stayed during the January transfer window.

At the moment, midfielder Fabbian is very much a Bologna player.

The Italian Under-21 international joined the Emilian club in the summer of 2023.

Bologna actually signed Fabbian on a permanent basis right away, rather than on loan. They signed him from Inter, whose academy he had come through.

However, Inter have a buyback clause as part of the deal for Fabbian.

Reportedly, the Nerazzurri can sign the 22-year-old back next summer for a fee of around €12 million.

Bologna Sporting Director: “Many Offers For Giovanni Fabbian, He Doesn’t Want To Leave”

Fabbian has been in impressive form for Bologna.

The former Inter midfielder had something of a breakout season in Serie A last time out. He had already excelled in the second division for Reggina, and made the step up to the top flight seamlessly.

This time out, Fabbian has not gotten quite as much playing time.

This had led to some rumours that Fabbian could leave Bologna on loan for the second half of the season. Reports linked him with the likes of Parma and Lazio.

However, Fabbian remained at Bologna.

Therefore, the 22-year-old will continue to be a part of the plans under Vincenzo Italiano at least until the end of the current campaign.

Then, Inter could have a decision to make about Fabbian’s future.

Rossoblu Sporting Director Di Vaio said that “There were a lot of offers for him.”

“But the player never expressed any desire to leave. And he’s a player we count on.”

“In the first part of the season, he got more playing time in Europe than in the league,” Di Vaio noted. “Which was all to do with Jens Odgaard’s explosion in form.”

“However, Giovanni never asked us to leave,” the Bologna Sporting Director made clear.
