Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has decided on his plans for the right-back position in his squad for the coming weeks.
That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at Valdebebas.
The subject of the options, or rather lack thereof, at the disposal of Carlo Ancelotti on the right of defence has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain’s capital over the last week.
This comes after long-term absentee Dani Carvajal was joined on the sidelines by backup Lucas Vázquez.
With Éder Militão, who is also capable of filling the position, ruled out for the remainder of the campaign, too, Real Madrid’s coaching staff have in turn been left with something of a conundrum.
And, this week, headmaster Ancelotti has made a call on as much.
As per a report from Diario AS, having lined out in the role on several occasions in the past, midfielder Federico Valverde is ‘the chosen one’ to slot in at right-back until the return of Lucas Vázquez to fitness:
‘Jesús Fortea will accumulate experience, but in Lucas’ absence, Valverde will put out the fire in the number two position.’
