A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga outfit Celta Vigo is all set for a move to Major League Soccer, with the Chicago Fire.
That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Jonathan Bamba as the player in question.
Bamba, for his part, has played something of a bit-part role for Celta Vigo across the season to date.
Owing to a combination of fitness problems, competition for places and rotation, the Ivorian has featured from the off in just over half of the Celestes’ league fixtures in 2024/25.
This situation had given rise to exit links over recent days, with Italian side Genoa credited with a keen interest in Bamba.
As alluded to above, though, the 28-year-old, instead, is being lined up for an imminent move to the USA.
As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:
‘Chicago Fire are set to sign Jonathan Bamba from Celta Vigo, deal agreed in principle. Final details to be discussed and then he will fly for medical as soon as documents will be approved.’
