Celtic got past Hibernian to book their place in the Scottish Cup semi-final. Now, the focus will shift towards the upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers. The result of the game probably won't have any effect on the title race. That being said, the Hoops will still be keen to get a result against their city rivals.
Of course, a Glasgow Derby is always a must-win game. On top of that, one cannot overlook the fact that Celtic lost the last one in one-sided fashion.
Celtic lost 3-0 against the Rangers at Ibrox earlier this year. And it is safe to say that a lot of fans will want to see the Hoops avenge that result.
Brendan Rodgers has vowed that he will have his team ready for the Glasgow Derby. As reported by The Celtic Way, the Northern Irish manager said:
"Rangers stole our game that day."That is normally how we play and how we do but they took it from us and deserved the win."But we will be ready for the demands of that game."I said before, I'd never had the team really like that in any of those games."So, the demands that are needed to play in that game, we will be ready for them next week, like we were in the first game."
Celtic fans will love Rodgers' confidence ahead of the Glasgow Derby. It is worth pointing out that the result away at Ibrox was a one-off in recent times.
Celtic have won Glasgow Derbies on a consistent basis in recent times, rarely even drawing. On the other hand, the Rangers have had a very tough time whenever up against their city rivals.
Let's see how things play out in the next Glasgow Derby. There is no doubt that the Celtic fans will want to see their team win in convincing fashion. But following the Rangers' heroics in Europe against Fenerbahce, it would be a mistake to count them out.
