Despite a spirited and positive showing in Munich on Tuesday the harsh reality is that we are now out of Europe until next season. That means we must now get on with the task of retaining our league title and hopefully the Scottish Cup to complete another Treble. And that task starts tomorrow lunch time at Easter Road.

It will be require a spirited effort to earn a victory in Leith, especially with Hibs playing so well at the moment and ourselves arriving on the back of a tough shift in Munich on Tuesday night. The fact that we played on Tuesday rather than Wednesday will certainly help as it gives the Bhoys that extra day for rest and recovery.

Easter Road is historically a tough place for Celtic to visit especially in the last few years. Indeed it was a place that Brendan Rodgers failed to taste victory during his first spell in charge and remember that was at a time when we were putting five past theRangers at Ibrox.

Even on his return to Celtic it proved a difficult venue. Last season’s two visits to Leith saw us held to a goalless draw before we prevailed courtesy of Adam Idah who’s last minute spot kick ensured us a vital three points in a slender 2-1 victory.

Early on in this campaign we cantered to a 2-0 win in Leith through goals from Nicolas Kuhn and a superb Callum McGregor strike, and we will need to replicate that sort of performance to be sure of all three points tomorrow as Brendan looks to make it three wins in a row at Easter Road to improve his own record in Leith.

His side is within touching distance of a fourth successive title. A victory tomorrow will be another major stepping stone in achieving that and it will set us up nicely for facing Hibs in the Scottish Cup quarter finals at Celtic Park on Sunday 9 March.
