Manchester United are braced for an imminent proposal from Real Betis, who hope to keep Antony for the entirety of the 2025/2026 campaign (The Telegraph).

It’s a prospective deal that doesn’t overly benefit the Red Devils heading into the transfer window, so it remains to be seen if Betis’ offer of a season-long loan will end up being accepted by the key decision-makers.

At a time when numerous signings are imperative, funds are equally as crucial to ensuring all bases have been covered upon the culmination of the summer. Ruben Amorim being a winger down for a full term, without United receiving essentially any fee in return, isn’t an opportunity the club are likely to jump at.

From Betis’ perspective, they will look to continue shelling out the 84 per cent of his salary they’ve been covering since his January switch while allowing him to continue flourishing in an environment that he’s taken by storm.

Antony will return to Carrington in June unless a new deal is agreed with Betis

Antony has been given a new lease of life in Seville following two lacklustre years at Old Trafford. He has started each of the 18 games he’s been available for across the La Liga and UEFA Conference League, with Betis currently preparing for their European semi-final first leg at home to Fiorentina – where the United loanee will reunite with ex-teammate David de Gea – on Thursday, May 1.

In the league, Los Verdiblancos are well in contention to claim a Champions League spot via a fifth-placed finish. Antony’s efforts across both competitions – five goals and four assists – have proven invaluable, so much so that he’s been hailed as ‘magical’ by the Spanish press (Diario AS).

The 25-year-old has two years remaining on his United contract and earns a reported £200,000 per week following his £86 million move from Ajax in 2022.
