Chelsea are among a clutch of Premier League clubs monitoring Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta ahead of the summer transfer window.
Crystal Palace are aware of interest from numerous Premier League rivals and activated a clause to extend the forward’s deal until 2027 in December. However, a big bid could persuade the Eagles to cash in on the Frenchman in the summer.
After an underwhelming first two seasons in the Premier League, the 27-year-old has burst into life over the past 18 months. Mateta has scored 32 goals in 67 games since the start of last season, including a brace in the 2-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday. Last season, he was named Crystal Palace Player of the Season after scoring 16 times in the Premier League.
Chelsea are tracking his progress as the Blues look to bring in competition for Nicolas Jackson. Despite a bright start to the season, the latter has now gone seven Premier League games without a goal. Chelsea lack an alternative to the Senegal international, with Enzo Maresca preferring Christopher Nkunku in a deeper role.
According to TBR Football, Manchester United, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, West Ham and Aston Villa are also courting the centre-forward.
