Chelsea duo Cesare Casadei and Ben Chilwell will not be involved in the FA Cup clash with Morecambe because they look set to leave the club.
Chilwell has found himself out of the squad altogether this season, while Casadei has been restricted to appearances in the Europa Conference League.
But boss Enzo Maresca says neither are likely to play a part against Morecambe with their futures likely to lie elsewhere, either temporarily or permanently.
Maresca said: “Chilwell in this moment is also thinking he is probably going to leave, so it is better to avoid using him to avoid that situation of injury. So plan is not to use Ben tomorrow.
“Cesare did not get minutes with us, not because he is not good, he is good player, but we have [Moises] Caicedo, Romeo Lavia in the same position.
“Casadei showed how good he is in the Conference League but we have players in that position and he unfortunately did not get minutes.”
Maresca also says it is too early for defender Aaron Anselmino, who recently joined up with the squad, to play.
“No, still too early,” Maresca said. “The plan for him is to try to put him in condition for minutes in the future, not now.
“He had some injury while there [in Argentina]. It is important for him to come here, adapt to English weather, English football and then from there we start to use him.”
