Bruno Fernandes has been told to take his ball and go home rather than continue to drag a mediocre Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been enduring a torrid campaign. Beating the relegation-confined Leicester City on Sunday only allowed them to improve their place in the Premier League standings to 13th.

Therefore, one could only imagine the atrocities that would have occurred if it wasn’t for Fernandes who has been the beating heart and soul of the team this season, as evidenced by his 16 goals and 15 assists across all competitions.

But while Man Utd supporters wouldn’t even want to ponder such a scenario, Joe Cole is urging Bruno to leave the club behind and head towards green pastures, especially after everything he had to go through between playing with under-par teammates and being constantly berated a section of the media and supporters.

“If I’m Bruno Fernandes, I’d absolutely be looking for a move away from Manchester United. He’s the first butterfly and he’s getting all the arrows from everyone,” said the former Chelsea and West Ham star in his interview with Paddy Power (via The Mirror).

“He must go home at night and wonder why everyone is digging him out when he’s the only one pulling his weight in this team. There are others doing okay but he is literally dragging that club through this dire moment.

Cole believes Fernandes has the ability to cement himself as a pillar at almost any other club in the world.

“He’s a fantastic footballer and you could put him into most teams, and he’d thrive, but I don’t think he’s won a league in his career and he needs to go and prove to himself that he can play in a top side because he’s run his race at Manchester United.

“He should leave that club with everyone; the owners, fans and the manager giving him his flowers because he gets all the stick. He’s a fabulous player and if I was him, I’d be looking to go and play in a team capable of winning trophies.”

The Portugal international has been on the receiving end of constant chastising from former Man Utd captain Roy Keane. however, he has rightfully earned the adoration of the majority of the fanbase, despite what’s been said and written by pundits and journalists in the media.
