After a period of ups and downs, Frenkie de Jong is now thriving at Barcelona under the guidance of Hansi Flick, who has restored his confidence and given him an integral role in the midfield unit.
Having struggled for form and confidence soon after his return from an elongated absence due to an ankle injury, the Dutchman is now performing close to his best level, once again becoming a key cog for Barça.
De Jong’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed as top Premier League clubs are once again showing strong interest in him, according to reports from England (h/t Fichajes).
Indeed, Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be interested in the Barcelona midfielder and are prepared to spend heavily to secure his signature this summer.

Both clubs are searching for a midfielder with the Dutchman’s profile and consider a fee of around €65-70 million could prove to be enough to tempt Barcelona into thinking of a sale.
It must be remembered that De Jong is set to enter the final year of his contract at Barcelona in the summer.
In the past, it had given way to uncertainty over his continuity at the club beyond this season. But things have changed in recent months.
Despite the growing interest from England, Barcelona are not looking to let go of one of their star players.
In fact, the Catalans have already started negotiations with De Jong’s representatives to finalise a contract renewal. After all, Flick has made his stance clear: he wants the Netherlands ace to remain part of his long-term project.
De Jong, for his part, is also happy at the club and in the city of Barcelona while he trusts Flick and believes that the team is headed for success under the German. As such, he too wishes to continue with the Catalans.
