According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea remain in negotiations to sign Mathis Amougou (19) from AS Saint-Étienne in the winter transfer window. The French midfielder is seen as a huge talent for the future by the Premier League club as they continue to target young talents from across the continent.

There is no agreement yet between Chelsea and Les Verts for the 19-year-old, but talks are progressing positively between the respective clubs. Amougou is valued at €15m, RMC Sport understands, and the Blues would be willing to meet that price to convince the Ligue 1 strugglers to sell.

The Saint-Étienne midfielder has been a regular feature since their return to Ligue 1 this season. Amougou has made 16 appearances in the French top flight this season. Whilst Chelsea view the player as one for the future, negotiations are ongoing with BlueCo, and the player could end up at sister club Strasbourg if an agreement is reached.
