Chelsea “will seriously listen to offers” for star with “issues” this summer

Players usually see their reputations grow when they’re injured – that’s certainly been the case with Nicolas Jackson, whose absence has seen Chelsea lack any cutting edge at all. While he’s away, his reputation has gone from “talented and misfiring” to “the second coming of Gerd Muller” if you just follow how keen fans are to see him.
Fellow attacker Noni Madueke went down injured at the same time as Jackson, but instead of being hailed the opposite is happening. Links to a move away from Chelsea in the summer are growing more frequent.
“It’s understood that Madueke is now one of a number of players who Chelsea will allow to move on in the summer,” Graeme Bailey wrote just a few days ago for TBR Football.
Now our writer Simon Phillips has the exclusive on his site, writing that he’s a player “the club will seriously listen to offers for come the summer.”
There have been “consistent issues with his attitude,” and he was dropped on two occasions earlier in the season for his training performances.
Phillips insists the winger “is rated by Enzo Maresca and the club,” but “if a decent offer came in, then Chelsea would certainly consider it.”
Premier League teams including Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa are “weighing up approaches,” with West Ham, Palace and Fulham also keen.

We would be surprised if Madueke was sold, as he seems like one of the successes of these sporting directors. He didn’t cost a lot and has shown plenty of ability.
Equally he’s not totally convincing, and if he can be sold for a profit, we can certainly see him being moved on to create space for new talents. It’s impossible to guess what this new model of running a club could throw up next.
