Birmingham City boss Chris Davies thinks that Blues star Lee Buchanan was excellent against Bristol Rovers and added that he is pleased to see the player score his first goal for the club.
The 23-year-old left-back missed the early part of this season due to a calf injury and returned to the training ground recently.
On Saturday, Buchanan made his first league start for Birmingham and marked his return with a goal in the fifth minute of the game.
Birmingham managed a 2-0 victory over the Gas’ and Davies stressed that he is pleased to see Buchanan get a goal after coming back from a long-term injury.
Davies added that he thought Buchanan was dangerous during corners and highlighted that he performed excellently throughout the game.
When asked whether he was pleased with Buchanan’s performance: Davies told Blues TV: “Definitely, I am so pleased for Lee.
“He had a round of applause from his team-mates.
“Any footballer, I will say, when you have been injured and he has been up and down with injuries for the best part of six months and to come back and actually play so well in the games he has played but then score is probably a dream for Lee and it is a great finish and he looked dangerous on corners.
“The second phase from a corner, he took it well and you fancy him on that left foot when it is bouncing, so really pleased for him, but his overall performance was excellent.”
Buchanan played 67 minutes for Birmingham on Saturday and will now be hoping to cement a spot in Davies’ starting line-up.
