Como coach Cesc Fabregas has returned to his native Spain to meet with Real Madrid officials in order to retain Nico Paz next season, amidst interest from Inter Milan.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, and via FCInterNews.it, Fabregas met with the Spanish club to discuss the possibility of keeping hold of Argentina international Paz for at least another season, as well as opportunities to bring in other youngsters.
Paz joined Como from Real Madrid last summer and has flourished in his maiden season, but the La Liga hold an option to buy him back at the end of the campaign.
Inter, meanwhile, have made signing Paz a priority and coach Simone Inzaghi is determined to land him, but Como hold the upper hand as Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti would favour another season of stability.
Should Como reach an agreement, it would be virtually impossible for Inter to sign him.
If Inter are to have any hope of bringing the 20-year-old in, it would require Real Madrid to buy Paz back and the Nerazzurri to then negotiate directly with the Spanish club, at an expected cost of at least €40-50 million.
