The Premier League have confirmed the list of match officials to take charge of proceedings involving Leicester City and Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola and his faltering Premier League champions extended their torrid run of form to one win in their last 13 matches on Boxing Day as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
Bernardo Silva’s opening goal inside 15 minutes gave those within the Etihad plenty of hope of a turn in fortunes, as chance creation flowed and possession dominance returned. However, such hopes would be short-lived when Iliman Ndiaye equalised on 36 minutes.
That result leaves Manchester City languishing in 7th position in the English top-flight table, and they now turn towards their final scheduled match of 2024 for a change in fortunes with Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City their next opponents.
The Foxes have their own winless streak to contend with as they hope to climb out of the relegation zone, having found themselves on the losing end of matches in all of their last three outings in the top-flight.
Ahead of the meeting between Leicester City and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the King Power Stadium!
The Premier League have confirmed that Michael Oliver will oversee proceedings between Leicester City and Manchester City at the King Power Stadium this weekend, in what will be his 24th contest across competitions this season.
In the Premier League, this will be the 15th game in the division this season for the 39-year-old, who has already overseen Manchester City on four previous occassions, of which three have resulted in victories for the Sky Blues and one being the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
In fact, Manchester City are the fourth most officiated team in Michael Oliver’s professional referee career, having overseen a total of 59 matches involving the reigning Premier League champions in the past, of which 43 of those games have resulted in wins for the Blues.
Accompanying Oliver on the pitch at the King Power Stadium this weekend will be a confirmed assistant refereeing pairing of Stuart Burt and Neil Davies, the Premier League have announced.
Over at Stockley Park, the Premier League have also announced that Video Assistant Referee duties have been handed to Paul Tierney at the VAR Hub, with support from Assistant Video Assistant Referee, Sian Massey-Ellis.
Taking on the role of overseeing duties between the two dugouts led by Ruud van Nistelrooy and Pep Guardiola will be the contest’s appointed fourth official, Bobby Madley.
