The Premier League have confirmed their team of match officials to oversee proceedings between Manchester City and Liverpool this weekend.

In a fixture that is usually viewed as a decider when it comes to the fate of the Premier League title chase, this season sees very little in the way of competitive edge despite plenty at stake for both teams separately.

Manchester City remain determined for victories during the second-half of the campaign as they continue to hunt down and secure a top-four finish after a torrid November and December run in the competition.

Pep Guardiola’s side believe they are firmly out of the chase for the Premier League title having won all of the last four honours in the competition, and come into the meeting with Liverpool this weekend 16 points behind Arne Slot’s men.

It is the Anfield side who lead the chase for the English top-flight crown and have been by far and away the best team in the division up until this point in the season, with only Arsenal seen as serious competition to their title credentials.

Ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Liverpool, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!

Match Referee

The Premier League have confirmed that the highly-experienced Anthony Taylor has been appointed as the on-field match referee for Manchester City’s top-flight clash with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

This will be the 46-year-old’s 30th competitive fixture of the season and his 23rd in the Premier League, having issued 71 yellow cards so far this campaign, with two red cards and nine penalties awarded.

Taylor has come across Manchester City on numerous occasions already this campaign, last overseeing proceedings involving the Premier League champions in their dramatic 2-2 draw away to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Other matches featuring City and officiated by Anthony Taylor this season include the 1-2 home defeat to Manchester United in December, and the 0-2 opening weekend victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Overall, there have been a total of 46 Manchester City matches across all competitions officiated by Anthony Taylor, with 25 wins for the club, 10 draws, and 11 defeats across that run.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Anthony Taylor on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon is an assistant referee pairing of Gary Beswick and Lee Betts, the Premier League have confirmed.

Video Assistant Referees

From the VAR Hub at Stockley Park, the Premier League have confirmed that Stuart Attwell will take up the role of Video Assistant Referee for Manchester City against Liverpool, with Adam Nunn in the Assistant Video Assistant Referee position.

Fourth Official

Overseeing actions between the two dugouts of Manchester City and Liverpool this weekend will be referee Andy Madley in the role of fourth official, policing matters largely involving Pep Guardiola and Arne Slot.
