The Eagles sealed their first-ever major trophy on Saturday when they beat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game, before Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson made several fine saves including keeping out a first-half penalty from Omar Marmoush.

Palace have now qualified for the Europa League next season as a result, and manager Glasner paid homage to his players, as well as to the Eagles’ fanbase.

“We wanted to write history,” the Austrian said. “I think we wrote a big chapter in history. And next year, we will start to write a new chapter: the first year in Europe.

“The biggest achievement is not lifting the trophy, it’s giving tens of thousands of south Londoners a moment for their life. We could give them good times. Maybe they have some problems at home. We gave them hours and days when they can forget all of this.

“This connection with Crystal Palace will stay forever. It is massive what everyone has done for the club.”

Glasner’s side are back in action on Tuesday night when they host Wolves in the Premier League at Selhurst Park.

“Tomorrow's training is already cancelled,” Glasner revealed. “The players want to cancel Monday, too.

“Special credit to the players, they've never lost belief in me and the coaching staff. Today, it was our day. It was the Crystal Palace day.

“I got the feeling during this season of a group of players that can achieve incredible things. I know we have talented players — but we have great characters, such a togetherness, work ethic, environment, atmosphere.

“This is fundamental for maybe achieving impossible things.”

Glasner was asked whether European football makes the club a more attractive prospect for potential signings this summer.

“More attractive, of course,” he said. “Crystal Palace is in the Premier League so is [already] very attractive.

“Let’s see what the transfer window will bring. But I don’t want to think about it today. I want to find the right party vibe.”
