After last week’s 2-1 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup, Chelsea again clashed heads with the Seagulls, this time in the Premier League. Their Cup run was brought to an end by Karou Mitoma around the hour mark, but the game tonight proved to be extremely one-sided as they went down 3-0 at Amex. The tough run continues for Enzo Maresca’s men as they leave the south coast empty-handed with two back-to-back defeats.
Filip Jorgensen: 5.5
Got the nod over Robert Sanchez who has been erroneous time and again. The Danish custodian could have done little to stop Mitoma’s opener or Yankuba Minteh’s brace. Still, he looked nervy between the sticks, particularly while playing it out from the back.
Malo Gusto: 5
Hardly had an impact high up the pitch as he was confined to his defensive duties by Mitoma and Georginio Rutter. Suffered a knock minutes before the third and was eventually replaced by Reece James midway through the second half.
Trevoh Chalobah: 4.5
Was completely outdone by the Japanese sensation during Brighton’s opening goal. Minteh’s second took a wicked deflection of his before beating past Jorgensen.
Levi Colwill: 5.5
Returned to the starting XI but he could not restore stability in the Chelsea backline. Did his best to play it out from the back with an accurate passing game, however, his tackles were rusty regardless of winning the majority of ground and aerial duels.

Marc Cucurella: 5
A night to forget for the former Brighton left-back who failed to stop Minteh on both occasions. Made some overlapping runs, but the lack of firepower upfront led to disappointment throughout the contest.
Moises Caicdeo: 5
The Ecuadorian midfield ace could not replicate last weekend’s performance as he looked clumsy with his challenges, got dispossessed and lost plenty of duels in the centre of the pitch. Was taken off for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall around minutes over the hour mark.
Enzo Fernandez: 5.5
lacked the composure in the middle of the park. His long balls and crosses lacked accuracy and purpose. Struggled against Jack Hinshelwood and Carlos Baleba who chased down the Argentine with relentless pressing.
Noni Madueke: 6
Looked lively in the early minutes before leaving the pitch with an injury midway through the first half. Jadon Sancho replaced him down the wide.
Cole Palmer: 5.5
His dribbles and touches were not enough to offer a creative spark high up the pitch. Was largely disappointing once again with little involvement in the attacking build-ups.
Pedro Neto: 6
Failed to make any notable contribution on either flank before making way for Tyrique George minutes after Minteh’s second of the night.
Christopher Nkunku: 5.5
Looked isolated upfront as the struggle continues for the Frenchman as a ‘number 9’ amid the injury absence of both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu.
Jadon Sancho: 5.5
Should have been more direct and effective with his dribbles and runs from the left.
Reece James: 6.5
Offered strength and stability in the defensive third. This half an hour of football should help him rebuild match fitness and finish the season strongly after years of injury nightmares.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall: 6
Replaced Caicedo in midfield as the former Brighton star was at the risk of a second yellow, thus receiving a marching order.
Tyrique George: 6
Looked sharper than the first-team attackers as the 17-year-old caused problems in the Brighton backline.
