Paulo Dybala assured he tries to ‘give my best for this shirt’ after bagging a Roma brace, despite the Galatasaray rumours, and Alexis Saelemaekers is relishing his new role.

The Giallorossi were looking for a confidence-booster after their 2-0 defeat away to Como, although they had already got back on track midweek with the 4-1 Coppa Italia win against Sampdoria.

Parma were hammered in the Eternal City with a 5-0 scoreline, as Paulo Dybala scored twice, along with Alexis Saelemaekers, Leandro Paredes and Artem Dovbyk goals.

“We played a great game and fortunately I was able to score today, which gives me confidence, but I think overall we deserved the result,” Dybala told DAZN.

“I know from the first day I saw the fans at the Colosseum that it was a huge welcome. I try to give my best for the shirt and to give something back to them.”

DAZN pointed out they were ‘not allowed’ to ask Dybala about his future or the links with Galatasaray as part of this post-match interview with the Man of the Match.

Although there is a brief break for Christmas, Roma will be back on the pitch for the massive trip to Milan on Sunday December 29, then the first match of 2025 is the Derby della Capitale against Lazio.

“We are always ready, these are the best games to play, they give you something extra in terms of mentality. We’ll think about Milan first, then the derby,” concluded La Joya.

Saelemaekers was very lively this evening and also earned the second penalty, so has shown he is relishing finally getting to play in his preferred role on the right side of a five-man midfield.

“I feel very good and the most important thing was the points. We had to show that the team seen against Como was not the real Roma, we had to do more,” Saelemaekers told DAZN.

“Wherever the coach wants me to play, I will aim to give my best and take my chance.”
