Only Mohamed Salah is ahead of Italy international Mateo Retegui in the European Golden Shoe ranking after the Atalanta striker reached Harry Kane.
Retegui scored his 21st Serie A goal this season, contributing to Atalanta’s 5-0 win over Empoli on Saturday.
This means the Atalanta star has now reached 42 points in the European Golden Shoe ranking, the same as the 2023-24 winner, Harry Kane.
Only Liverpool star Salah stands above the pair with 25 Premier League goals and 50 points.
Retegui joined Atalanta from Genoa in the summer transfer window to replace the injured Gianluca Scamacca but quickly became irreplaceable in Bergamo, scoring three more goals in the Champions League and reaching 24 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.

Retegui is the only Serie A representative in the European Golden Shoe Top 10.
Fiorentina star Moise Kean is the second top-scorer in Italy’s top flight with 15 goals, followed by Inter’s Marcus Thuram with 13 and Ademola Lookman with 12.
