Goalkeeper Yann Sommer will return to the Inter Milan starting eleven Feyenoord in this evening’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Goalkeeper Yann Sommer has been on the sidelines for Inter Milan’s last few matches.
The 36-year-old former Bayern Munich keeper suffered a thumb fracture in training last month. He underwent surgery to correct the problem.
While Sommer has been recovering, Josep Martinez has gotten a run in the Inter starting eleven.
The Spaniard has started against the likes of Genoa, Napoli, and Monza in Serie A. He has also started against Lazio in the Coppa Italia, and the first leg of a Champions League tie against Feyenoord.
But Yann Sommer has returned to fitness.
The 36-year-old’s recovery process had gone a little quicker than expected.

Initially, there were doubts about whether Sommer could return to action before the March international break.
However, Sommer’s injury was only a microfracture. The surgical procedure was a success, and he has quickly healed.
Therefore, Sommer was already available on the bench against Monza over the weekend.
And this evening, the Swiss will make his return to the starting lineup.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi already confirmed as much yesterday.
And the Gazzetta further confirm that Sommer will be starting between the posts for this round of sixteen second leg.
