As we approach the summer, there’s been a decent bit of talk about Chelsea’s defensive situation.

It seems almost certain another top option comes in at centre back. While it increasingly looks like we’ve missed out on Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen, there are other names cropping up, from Marc Guehi to Mario Gila of Lazio, who was mentioned in rumours today.

Chelsea put another defender up for potential sale

There’s also continued talk about who might leave to make room for a new addition – it seems Trevoh Chalobah is being lined up to go (for a third summer in a row) while Axel Disasi’s loan out to Aston Villa in January also seems to presage a departure.

But there could yet be further departures, especially considering Mamadou Sarr has already been signed from Strasbourg to join this summer. Our sources tell us that Benoit Badiashile, who has become a very definite second string player, has plenty of interest from Europe, with 3 Serie A teams particularly keen.

Napoli, Inter Milan and Roma are all apparently considering bids for the Frenchman, with Chelsea looking for at least €35m for the former Monaco man.

They all think that Badiashile could be better suited to Italian football than to the Premier League, and are keen to see whether they can make a deal with Chelsea. No “official moves” have been made yet, but clearly they see an opportunity here as the Blues look to change up their back line in the summer.

The source adds that Badiashile is happy at Chelsea, but would certainly consider leaving if an “attractive offer” was made, especially considering he seems to be getting further from our first team rather than closer.
