The 28-year-old has returned to parent club Swansea after spending the duration of the 2024/25 season on loan with Championship rivals Derby County.

However, his place in the Swans side for next season seems far from guaranteed, and as such, he could well be on the chopping block this summer.

Football Insider have claimed that Blackburn Rovers, Hull City, QPR and two MLS clubs are all battling for his signature, who is contracted at the Swansea.com Stadium until the summer of 2026.

Speaking exclusively with Football League World, we asked Sky Sports pundit and former player, David Prutton: 'QPR are weighing up a move for Swansea striker Jerry Yates. Thoughts? Would he be a good signing for the R's?'

Prutton said: "It would be a good signing for QPR.

"He's certainly a player I've enjoyed watching over the past few seasons across the EFL. He would be a miss for Swansea.

"QPR need something to change this pattern of treading water in the Championship. I'm not saying that Jerry Yates is the vital cog that can completely transform them, but he's shown at this level that he's got ability to affect the opposition.

"So, the money would have to be right, the finances would have to fit, but he would be a good signing for the R's, but we just don't really know where they or whose leading them at the minute, do we?"

Jerry Yates could provide QPR with nice complement to Michael Frey - and possibly cover Rayan Kolli loss

QPR have really been struggling to find a goalscorer in recent years.

In fact, Yates' 10 Championship goals for Derby this past season would've made him the R's top scorer in each of the last four seasons - per FotMob.

The centre-forward has hit double-figure goals in the Championship with Blackpool as recently as the 2022/23 season, in which he bagged 14 in 41 appearances, and has proven himself to be a solid source of goals at this level.

Therefore, he could complement QPR's big striker Michael Frey nicely, offering the R's two different styles of centre-forwards to hurt opposition defences with.

Yates could also provide a steady enough source of insurance for QPR should they decide to cash-in on their exciting and in-demand young striker, Rayan Kolli.

The R's will be looking to conduct shrewd and sensible transfer business this summer, and Yates could fit the bill for them in that regard.
