FC Bayern Women have been drawn against Lyon in the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League. The draw for the knockout stages took place in Nyon on Friday with Nadine Keßler (UEFA’s head of women’s football) and Carla Couto (ambassador for the final in Lisbon). Bayern will host the first leg on 18/19 March, with the return fixture in France on 26/27 March. UEFA will confirm the dates and kick-off times in due course. Should the Munich Frauen progress, they face a potential semi-final with Real Madrid or Arsenal.

"Will do everything in our power to progress to the semi-finals"

Alexander Straus: “Ever scenario would’ve brought us a tough opponent. Lyon have been regular finalists and are the record winners in the Champions League. They’re a good team and have a huge amount of experience. It’ll be a great experience, and we’ll do everything in our power to beat Lyon and progress to the semi-finals.”

Carolin Simon: “We’re excited about the quarter-finals against Lyon. We weren’t really bothered who we got. All potential opponents are top teams. Our last games against Lyon were always very tight, and we were able to beat them as well. We’ve also taken big steps forward in the last few years, so we can go into the quarter-finals with confidence and optimism and will prepare as best we can.”

Lyon won all six games in the group stage against Wolfsburg, Roma and Galatasaray. Bayern last faced the eight-time winners back in the 2021 groups, losing 2-1 in Lyon before a 1-0 win at the Campus. The French side’s last Champions League success was in 2022.

Bayern advanced to the knockouts with a record of four wins, a draw and one defeat, finishing second in their group behind Arsenal.
