Givairo Read can play for Feyenoord in Wednesday evening’s match against RKC Waalwijk. The right-back was sent off against PSV, but has now been acquitted by the KNVB disciplinary committee.
Read was shown a red card after allegedly denying Noa Lang a scoring chance. Referee Danny Makkelie quickly brandished the red card, and Feyenoord had to continue with 10 men. A little later, PSV turned the match around, and the Eindhoven team won 3-2 at De Kuip.
Coach Robin van Persie immediately indicated after the match that he did not agree with Makkelie. The KNVB’s prosecutor for professional football nevertheless made a settlement proposal of a one-match suspension. Feyenoord did not agree to that.
On Monday evening, a session was held in Zeist at the disciplinary committee. Feyenoord won that, and following Tuesday evening’s verdict of the KNVB independent disciplinary committee, the verdict cancelled Read’s suspension, which means he can play against RKC Waalwijk.
