Speaking during his return visit to the Emirates Stadium on Friday, Santi Cazorla answered questions on whether he’d consider a return to the club once his playing days are over.

“Yes, why not? Arsenal is my home,” Cazorla said. “I love the club and the people, so we will see in the future.

“I don’t know [what role I would have]. I would have to think about that but something in football for sure, because that is what I love.”

This isn’t the first time Cazorla has spoken on the subject, and he previously admitted he’d even held talks over a potential comeback to Arsenal.

“We had conversations about that [returning] but right now I am not focused on anything other than contributing to this club, Oviedo, and continuing to enjoy football as a player,” Cazorla said over the summer.

Now 40 years old, Cazorla remains in action with Real Oviedo in the Spanish second tier. But he’s not just playing a token role, starting in 16 of his 19 league appearances this season, scoring one goal and assisting four.

Oviedo are in the hunt for promotion, currently sitting in a play-off spot and just four points off the top of the table. Cazorla is a big part of that as their captain.

Cazorla spent six seasons with Arsenal as a younger player, making 180 appearances and directly contributing to 73 goals.

The midfielder won two FA Cups with the Gunners and was present at the club for a third, though injury denied him any role in the competition that season. He also played in two Community Shield victories.

It was great to have him back on Friday, and Arsenal fans would surely welcome another return in the future.
