Kylian Mbappe may not have stepped up to take Real Madrid’s penalty against Getafe but he did score in the 36th minute in what comes as a massive confidence booster for the player.

After all, the Frenchman was intensely criticised after Real Madrid’s defeat to Liverpool and questions were asked over his compatibility under Carlo Ancelotti.

His pivotal role in the win last night only goes to show that the player is fighting to regain his best, although he still did miss three big chances against Getafe.

Former Real Madrid star praises Mbappe

Speaking to the media recently, former Real Madrid and PSG star Jese Rodriguez gave his two cents on Kylian Mbappe and the Frenchman’s chance to make history at Real Madrid.

“I had a couple of conversations with him before I left, he asked me what Real Madrid was like as a club and I told him it was the best club in the world and that if he wanted to win the Ballon d’Or he should sign for Madrid,” said Jese.

Having previously played with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and then shared the dressing room with Mbappe at PSG, Jese claimed that the two players shared some similarities.

“There wasn’t that much difference to the feeling I had when I was training with Cristiano. They were both the same, they scored goals in every training session.

“They both have their different talents, but you could already see that Mbappe was going to be a star.”

While Mbappe has indeed got off to a rocky start at the club, the management and administration retain faith in his ability to come good and grow into the role.

Carlo Ancelotti has experience in helping players turn their situation around dealing with under-confidence and has done so for several big names over his long coaching career. Needless to say, he is confident he can help Mbappe find his best form.

As revealed earlier this week, Los Blancos have also contacted Zinedine Zidane to help talk to the player and instil him with confidence.
