Benjamin Pavard highlighted the importance of defensive resilience ahead of Inter Milan’s Champions League home clash against Monaco.
Speaking to InterTV via FCInterNews, the French defender admitted he expects Les Monégasques to give Inter a run for their money.
Inter are on the cusp of securing a sought-after place in the Round of 16 through a top-eight finish in the league phase.
However, they must get the job done tomorrow.
Simone Inzaghi and his charges cannot underestimate the magnitude of the task awaiting them on Wednesday night.
Indeed, they’ll take on an in-form Monaco side, needing a point to lock down a coveted top-eight finish.
Defensive solidity has been a hallmark of Inter’s imperious European form this season.
They’ve only conceded once in the first seven rounds, contributing to the competition’s best defensive record.
Therefore, Pavard expects his team to prove their defensive masterclass in the most significant match yet.
Benjamin Pavard has swiftly regained his place in Inzaghi’s starting line-up after recovering from injury earlier this month.
Indeed, he will be part of Inter’s defensive wall tomorrow.

“It’s the final match of the Champions League group stage, and we know how important it is,” Pavard said.
“We’ll be playing against a great team, but we’ll be at home with the support of our fans.
“We’ll give it our all, as we always do, trying to do everything possible to win.”
Asked whether defensive soundness could be key to Inter’s success, Pavard replied: “Yes, we know they have some excellent attacking players.
“They score a lot, so we’ll need to stay focused and play the way we usually do. If we’re solid defensively, I’m confident we’ll win.”
