GdS: ‘More than €100m’ – Milan to re-invest commercial success into squad

In recent seasons, fans have often been frustrated with the way that AC Milan have spent, and this season was a great example – probably overspending in January after a poor summer.
Football relies on balance, whether that be on the pitch or off it, and this is especially true when it comes to finances. If clubs fail to balance books, they often pay a heavy price, whether that be in fines, or in punishments.
The fine line to this though, is how much clubs focus on staying safe, and this is why, in the past few years, Milan fans have grown frustrated with the persistent focus on sustainability. However, it seems that line may be started to be towed in.
Gerry Cardinale has now experienced his first silverware, and he wants more, as displayed by the January market, and there is set to be another boost to finances in the next few years it seems, after Giorgio Furlani’s recent commercial meetings in Dubai.
In fact, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the club are set to pocket more than €100 million from some sponsorship deals, more specifically from the extension of the Emirates contract.
This money then will be directly re-invested into the squad, to ‘build a stronger and more competitive team’.
