Further confirmation has arrived regarding Tijjani Reijnders’ imminent renewal, and AC Milan hope that it will fend off interest from Real Madrid.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, it was mainly the decision of Geoffrey Moncada to focus on signing Reijnders in the 2023 summer mercato. He saw the Dutchman as an ideal profile to come in and help rebuild the midfield after Sandro Tonali’s sale, agreeing a €20m deal with AZ Alkmaar.
Now, after a brilliant debut season, his value has tripled to at least €60m, largely because he is already on eight goals this season. The good news is that CEO Giorgio Furlani has practically closed negotiations for the renewal of his contract.
It hasn’t been made official, but the 26-year-old will extend until 2029 (with an option until 2030) and increase his salary to €3.5m net per season plus bonuses. The hope is that this will help keep away the suitors, above all Real Madrid.
Los Blancos were impressed by his performance at the Santiago Bernabeu and the goal that he scored. He is part of a list their management has ahead of next summer when they will have to replace Luka Modric.
However, Reijnders is doing well at Milan, is happy at the club, feels a connection with the fans and with the Dutch tradition in the Rossoneri ranks. Real Madrid, therefore, should prepare to be disappointed.
