Genoa sporting director Mauro Ottolini warned Inter Milan that they’re not alone in the race for Morten Frendrup.
Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, Ottolini admitted the Norwegian midfielder has become a wanted property.
With Davide Frattesi likely to leave the San Siro, Simone Inzaghi is in the market for reinforcements.
Despite staying put in January, Frattesi could return to his boyhood club, Roma, in the summer.
Though he hasn’t been a permanent starter, his role in squad rotation has been pivotal.
Therefore, Inter cannot let him go without finding a suitable alternative.
Frendrup ticks all the boxes for a type of player Inzaghi is eager to recruit.
Indeed, he’s only 23 but has plenty of experience in Italian football.
He joined Genoa in January 2022 from Brondby for only €3.5 million, penning a four-and-a-half-year deal.
As such, the Griffins will probably make a substantial profit from his sale.
Inter could lodge a concrete bid for Frendrup if they sanction Frattesi’s departure.
However, they’ll face competition from ‘several’ other clubs.

“Frendrup is now a certainty, and it’s normal for several clubs to be following him and assessing his progress. “Ottolini said.
Meanwhile, he confirmed the Griffins are yet to open talks with other teams for their in-demand star.
“Are there any ongoing negotiations? No, nothing serious at the moment.”
Frendrup has been the cornerstone of Genoa’s attempt to avoid relegation from Serie A this term.
Indeed, he has been a permanent first-team fixture under Patrick Vieira.
For further context, the Norwegian has only missed one league match this season, netting twice in 28 appearances.
