Guglielmo Vicario after Tottenham’s Europa League title win: “A magical and historic night” | OneFootball

Tottenham star Guglielmo Vicario was key for the club in their 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final.

The Italian made an important save off Luke Shaw in stoppage time of the clash and impressed with his clearances while coming off the line and being his vocal self.

Tottenham have won their first trophy in 17 years and Vicario, who has grown in stature since his arrival from Empoli, spoke to Sky Italia after the tie and he described it as a ‘magical’ night for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

He said, via TMW: “A magical and historic night for this club. Probably many, when I chose it 2 years ago, would have thought that we would have faced yet another failure. We have written the history of this club and this competition.”

He also stated tha the is proud to be a part of the current Tottenham squad, which has taken a monkey off the club’s back: “I am proud to be part of this group. It has been a very hard journey, then the joy of football is when you win and make many people happy. We just have to celebrate.”

Vicario had missed a major part of this season due to an injury but since his return, he has impressed between the sticks. This is his first piece of silverware at the senior level and his signing has proved to be an impressive piece of business by Tottenham.
