Kane has emerged as a doubt for Bayern’s Champions League knockout phase playoff second leg after not taking part in Monday’s training session.

According to reports in Germany, the 31-year-old picked up a knock in Saturday’s goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen so didn’t train as a precaution.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s decider at the Allianz Arena, Kompany revealed the latest on Kane.

"It's nothing bad with Harry, but we've not got much time to recover,” he said. “Sometimes you need an extra day. But we'll see how Harry feels tomorrow morning. I'm assuming it's nothing bad.

“We've not had long to recover."

Kompany later added: "I was a bit blurry in how I said it, whether he's fit or not. Maybe a bit of a red herring. I can only say that we'll see tomorrow."

The Bayern boss also delivered an update on summer signing Joao Palhinha who is on course for a return to the matchday squad after missing the last three games with illness.

“Joao has been sick. You've probably all had someone in your family who's had flu. That's what Joao had,” Kompany said. “He should be able to be involved, and thankfully we've got almost the full squad back.

"I can't say much about giving players a rest, but we trust our squad. I can't judge what'll happen in the future. I don't want to look beyond Celtic tomorrow.

“But we've had to make some necessary changes from time to time, and we won't complain. We've got a lot of games - that's the truth, but it's also fun. And we've got a squad that's up for it."
