The Canaries have made a reasonable start to this campaign under Johannes Hoff Thorup, and will hope their season only gets better.

When looking at the Championship, there are many clubs that wouldn't be too dissimilar to a few Premier League clubs and Norwich may be one not too far off.

A promotion in this campaign could see the current wage bill skyrocket, but with the Canaries being all too familiar with the Premier League, this shouldn't have a major effect on them.

It's an interesting situation when you take into account the different financial scenarios for squads in the Championship, as we take a look at how Norwich compares to the rest of the second tier.

Norwich saw plenty of new arrivals in the summer window, which will have had an effect on the Canaries' average wage bill.

According to Capology's estimates, Norwich have an average weekly salary in their squad of £14,911 (It must be stressed that this is an estimate).

The total weekly payroll comes at a total of £417,500 Their highest earner in the squad is estimated to be Shane Duffy and Jack Stacey, who are suggested to be on a wage of £35,000, exceeding that of the average.

Their lowest earner is suggested to be American academy graduate, Jonathan Tomkinson, who earns a much lower salary based on an average of £4,500.

Comparing it to other clubs, they share a similar weekly average salary with the likes of Cardiff City, who weren't long ago in the Premier League and have a wage bill of £14,019.

Regarding former Premier League sides, Luton Town, who were most recently relegated, just come in above Norwich, with an estimated weekly wage of £15,161.

As you can so far tell, Norwich are considered as one of the bigger earners in this league, and it doesn't really come as a surprise judging by their status as a football club.

However, they are eclipsed by five other clubs at this level.

Having already said Luton come in just above Norwich as the fifth-highest earners, the Hatters are followed by Sheffield United at £16,885, also recently being relegated from the Premier League, albeit with financial issues in the past.

The top three doesn't come as too much of a surprise with West Brom in third at £17,660, Burnley follows with £20,552 and trumping the entire competition is Leeds United with a whopping £30,783 average salary.

Norwich's squad are practically earning half of Daniel Farke's side's salary, which makes for extraordinary reading.

Compared to the other end of the spectrum, Portsmouth have the lowest earners with an average of £4,468, which seems minute when comparing it with Norwich's, let alone Leeds.

Norwich's weekly wage did actually take a big hit from last season's average, with it being estimated at £17,593 just last season.

With transfers happening in January soon, expect these figures to change.
