Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has joked that he will celebrate with a parade in his garden and will buy the beer himself if Manchester City are found guilty of their alleged 115 charges.
The timeline of City’s alleged charges dates back as far as 2018, but it was in February 2023 when the Premier League charged the club with 115 financial breaches.
The hearing between the Premier League and Man City commenced in September 2024 with a verdict on the trial relating to the charges expected to be concluded early this year.
Should the Manchester club be found guilty, they could face relegation and be stripped of their Premier League titles.
Liverpool, managed by Klopp at the time, came second to City on several occasions and could seek to be awarded the league titles instead.
Klopp, speaking at his first press conference as Red Bull’s head of global soccer, joked: “If it happens, I’ve told all the people, just book a flight, I’ll buy the beer.
“Whatever we have to celebrate, we would do it, in good weather, we would have our own parade in my garden.
“We will see. I didn’t follow it at all. I’m really surprised that you’ve told me it’s that close. Two months? Wow. Let’s see.”
