There continues to be a lot of confusion surrounding the stadium project, and a report has suggested that AC Milan may turn back to San Donato.

To best highlight the contradictions, we direct you to president Paolo Scaroni’s words. He stated that San Donato is the number one opportunity, and he even reassured the mayor of the region who had become concerned.

However, on 20 December he stated that it has once again become ‘Plan B’, because the club are looking at building with Inter after the project started back in 2019 was reignited.

This morning’s edition of Il Cittadino (via MilanNews) has a section headlined as follows: ‘New Stadium: Milan is aiming for San Siro, but there are problems. San Donato remains in the running’.

Milan are working on two different options in parallel: building a ‘new San Siro’ with Inter and building their own facility alone in San Donato. At the moment the first project is plan A, but it is not without issues.

The paper adds that is is a process that ‘would present a series of possible obstacles that seem to be starting to surface in recent weeks’, therefore the Rossoneri are keeping the San Donato option well and truly alive.

Greater certainty about which option Milan will definitively choose will be available in the first half of 2025, given that the possible purchase of San Siro and the surrounding areas would have to materialise by June at the latest.

In the meantime, in San Donato the Program Agreement is moving forward, which currently aims to close the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) phase, with the drafting of the so-called ‘environmental report’, and then move on to the next step.
