Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is hoping to be reunited with two of his Sporting CP disciples, including Viktor Gyokeres.
By the end of a quiet January transfer window, Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were the only arrivals at Carrington. On the other hand, Marcus Rashford and Antony joined Aston Villa and Real Betis respectively, but the club didn’t replace them, although a timid attempt to lure Bayern Munich teenager Mathys Tel was made, but he instead ended up at Spurs.
But by all accounts, United are bracing themselves for a busy summer which should witness the arrival of several new signings. We can expect the club to target players capable of assimilating themselves into the manager’s 3-4-2-1 system. And what better way to do so than signing stars who have already produced the goods under Amorim in the past.
According to Fichajes.net, the 39-year-old manager has asked INEOS to pursue two of his former players at Sporting CP, beginning with Gyokeres.

The 26-year-old is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, as he’s been scoring for fun over the last two campaigns. The Sweden international has already scored 34 strikes for the Lisbon-based giants this season, raising his overall tally for the club to 77 goals and 22 assists.
Gyokeres would certainly be the right addition for a striking department that lacks a consistent goal threat, as Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been struggling to find the back of the net this season. The Swedish bomber has a release clause of €100 million, but some reports believe Sporting’s asking price is around £60 million.
In addition to Gyokeres, Amorim also wants Geovany Quenda, a 17-year-old right winger who made his senior debut under his watch. Despite his tender age, the teenager has already locked himself a regular starting place at the club.
