Inter Milan wingback Matteo Darmian is set to be out for around a month as he recovers from a thigh strain.

The Nerazzurri confirm that Darmian underwent medical tests today. And Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, report that the 35-year-old is targeting a return against Udinese after the international break.

Matteo Darmian started for Inter Milan in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia quarterfinal win over Lazio.

However, the former Manchester United and Torino veteran was not able to see out the first half.

Darmian went down holding his leg, and immediately indicated that he would require a substitution. Denzel Dumfries replaced the Italian international.

Today, Matteo Darmian underwent tests with the Inter medical staff.

And the club confirm that these showed that the 35-year-old has suffered a muscle strain in the semimembranosus of his right thigh.

Sky Sport Italia provide further detail on the likely recovery timeline for Darmian.

The Italian international will be out for a few weeks. Probably for right around a month.

That means that there would be no real chance of seeing Darmian back on the pitch before the March international break.

Inter play five matches in March before the break. They take on Napoli, Monza, and Atalanta in Serie A. Then, there is a two-legged Champions League round of sixteen tie against Feyenoord.

Darmian will miss all of those matches. However, reports Sky, he will target a return in the first match back from the break, against Udinese on March 30th.
